India poised to be one of the biggest players in the global app market by 2016

The mobile apps (short for applications) industry, which grew at 22.6% in India last year, is projected to cross the Rs 1,804-crore market in 2012, according to Subho Ray, president of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

Android Jelly Bean climbs up on market presence

New smartphones and system updates helped Android 4.1 and 4.2 gain significant ground in the last 30 days.

The real mover among Android variants, however, was Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This version, available since late June, climbed from just 2.7% of all Android devices to 5.9%. Its presence more than doubled in the last 30 days.
